The McGrory Brothers snapped pictures of many ships in Campbeltown Loch and in the Harbour, we are very fortunate to have such a collection.
This is the Royal Mail Steamer Partridge at Campbeltown, one of the many Steamers that called on the town regularly.
This is her on a regular trip advertised in the Belfast News-Letter. This particular advert is from the August 8th 1911 City Edition.
R. M. S. Partidge was built by John Brown & Co Ltd., Clydebank. Yard No. 373.
Launched on the 23rd May 1906 and completed on 10th July 1906.
At the outbreak of the ‘Great War’ in 1914 she was requisitioned by the Admiralty and commissioned as Fleet Messenger HMS PARTRIDGE II. She operated without incident between Malta/Marseilles.
After the war she was returned to the owners in 1919. Subsequently ended her career on 2nd November 1936 and broken up for scrap.
